YEAR:2009
After graduating, Masters in Bioinformatics in April 2009, I immediately joined Neogen BioSolutions, a private company in Tamil Nadu, India as a Research Analyst. My job role was to guide the students from various universities with their Bioinformatics related project topics. My main area of interest was Computer Aided Drug Design, Sequence Analysis, and Phylogenetic Analysis. Analyzing the results, preparing reports, informing the manager up to date the current work schedule were part of my job. I also presented small workshops to the students about the Bioinformatics software and tools.
YEAR: 2010
Due to personal circumstances, I moved to my hometown after resigning my job. As my home town was a small village, and to stay in touch with my passion for education, I volunteered and worked part time in a small educational institute. I conducted cultural classes, thought basics of various languages to the children. I also supervised the short hand, typewriting classes for the students from low financial backgrounds who were given free classes. I prepared the annual reports of the institution.
YEAR: 2012
I moved to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2011. After a year break, I started my career as an Administrative Assistant in a IT solutions company. My job role was to prepare reports, schedule meetings, customer support, answering phones, storing the reports of the invoices.
YEAR: 2015
In 2015, I started my career as a teacher in Saudi Arabia. I taught the children in kindergarten, primary level. I organized several competitions, cultural event in the school. I was a very good team player, showed my leadership qualities as well. I was awarded the “Best Teacher of the month” in the school for teaching and engaging the children in several activities and making learning fun for the kids. I was able to observe the children very keenly and able to understand their needs. I was able to feel the difficulties some children were facing to learn and understand. It started to rekindle within me the passion for science. I started to imagine how the DNA contemplate within the children. This made me realize the real passion for science.
YEAR: 2019
I landed in University College Cork, Ireland to gain and refresh the knowledge of Bioinformatics. I did my second Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. I was able to feel the other side of Bioinformatics with programing and statistical analysis with python and R, while I learned about the general and basic Bioinformatics topics like biological databases, Sequence alignment, phylogenetic analysis, computer aided drug design during the years 2007-2009. I added the Molecular Biology module to have on hands on experience with the wet lab practical as it was my interest too. I liked the way predictions are made in bioinformatics, but at the same time it has to be proved using the wet lab techniques. I graduated in 2020.
YEAR: 2020
After the completion of my masters, I enrolled myself in a certification program, Genetic Assistant Training administered by Department of medicine, Johns Hopkins University, USA. I learned about the chromosomal abnormalities, variants, pedigree analysis etc. I completed the certification while on the other side I was working for a large Irish supply chain as a supervisor/personal shopper. I started as a sales assistant and then got into the online service team. I have received consistently positive reviews from my managers for my handling of I.T. related issues as well as general logistical issues, and I have been given progressively more responsibilities over the duration of this current employment. However, I remain most interested in obtaining, and thriving in, a role in the field of Bioinformatics, as this is where my personal motivation to succeed lies.
